Athena Nilssen is an associate attorney at Cowdrey Jenkins, LLP. Her practice focuses exclusively on the litigation of complex elder abuse and neglect cases. Prior to joining Cowdrey Jenkins, LLP, Ms. Nilssen worked at a prominent employment defense firm handling all aspects of workers’ compensation defense litigation on behalf of third party administrators, insurance carriers and employers.
Ms. Nilssen is a graduate of UCLA (Los Angeles, CA, BA, English Literature) and Loyola Law School (Los Angeles, CA, Juris Doctor). While in law school, Ms. Nilssen was active in the Tax Appeals Assistance Clinic and advocated for taxpayers’ rights. She also volunteered her time in Memphis, Tennessee helping low-income senior citizens with various legal issues under the supervision of the University of Memphis Law School.
Ms. Nilssen enjoys creative writing in her spare time. She has had poems and short stories published in various literary journals across the country. She earned a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from the prestigious Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
She is licensed to practice law in California.
